#justfinishedreading “The Polish Officer” by Alan Furst. To my joy, just one of a dozen or so books by Furst on similar themes; this title published 1995, most recent 2016. Resistance, #espionage, bravery, lust and occasional love in Europe in the late 1930s and #WW2. Three gifts for the writer-reader: Impeccable historical background and detail – but lightly worn. Sparse lyrical conjuring up of place, be it a sordid Parisian night club or a summer’s day. Taut, economical yet totally gripping action scenes. #historicalfiction #thriller #amwriting #amreading #writinginspiration #bookstagram
