It wasn’t all dancing for Canadian #nurses serving in France in #WW1. Along with their British and US counterparts these women suffered serious injury and death whilst caring for the wounded of all nationalities. The tragic events in the image above occurred in the desperate days of early 1918. Miss Macdonald, the American nurse who lost her right eye (see second report) was back on duty a few weeks later following treatment in Paris. Both incidents described in reports held by @nationalarchivesuk
